Russell Peters is a Canadian stand-up comic of Anglo-Indian descent. He is very popular in Canada, and (as of 2006) gaining worldwide recognition through the use of streaming internet videos. He has been nominated for four Gemini Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the American Emmy Awards. He has also been nominated for Best Male Comic at the Canadian Comedy Awards. Peters has been featured at such shows as Montreal's Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival. He hosted the Canada Day Comedy Festival 2006 (aired 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 30, on CBC). Russell began performing in Toronto in 1989 and has performed in the UK, Australia, China, Singapore, Denmark, South Africa, The Caribbean, Vietnam, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the United States. Russell's comedy focuses largely around his Indian upbringing and racial stereotypes, as he often parodies his parents and the South Asian culture. Much of his material explores the cultural divides between many different ethnicities and upbringings in a way that includes many impressions. In the United States and much of the world, a great deal of his popularity has stemmed from internet users who viewed his 45-minute Comedy Now video. Russell's heritage is Anglo-Indian - a British-Indian mix on both sides of the family. Russell has also been a DJ since 1985, and is an amateur boxer. Russell was born to Eric and Maureen Peters, and has a brother named Clayton. He grew up in Canada but now lives in Los Angeles. He was once engaged but is currently single. Russell's father, Eric Peters, died in March 2004 from cancer. He was a firm supporter of his son and was very proud of the success that Russell had achieved at the time of his passing. Syd Barrett, one of the original members of legendary rock group Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 60 from complications arising from diabetes. He was born Roger Barrett in Cambridge and met future bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour at school there. The guitarist was invited to join Pink Floyd by Waters in 1965 but left three years later after only one album with his mental state affected by drugs. "He died very peacefully a couple of days ago," said the band's spokeswoman. Keane - Under The Iron Sea - Album Review

The follow-up to Keane’s 5 million-selling “Hopes And Fears” was recorded in New York and at Helioscentric Studios, near the band’s hometown of Battle in Sussex. On their Myspace site they declare, “we were writing, singing and performing with a drive, intensity and fury that is almost unrecognisable from our previous music”, perhaps with the intention of shading their tag of being the purveyors of ‘wuss-rock’. Already available as a video download, “Atlantic” opens the record in dark and dramatic fashion. The drumming of Richard Hughes dominates as a string section swoons, but the track fails to encapsulate, and serves as a disappointing introduction. Quite the antithesis is imminent single “Is It Any Wonder? "which contains an urgency perhaps not often associated with Keane. The bouncy chorus is infectious, and it is something that is also found on the cascading “Put It Behind You” and glorious “Crystal Ball”. The band injects similar energy into “Leaving So Soon?” but seem to have forgotten to give the track a hook, making it extremely tempting to reach for the skip button on the CD player. Those who loved Keane’s previous work will no doubt enjoy “Nothing In My Way”, one of the strongest tracks present. It contains all the hallmarks of the trio, and has a chorus that will sweep you up like a tidal wave. “A Bad Dream” is of comparable style, and Tom Chaplin perfectly conveys an atmosphere of not being sure if you’re awake, coupled with a sense of loss. They manage to top this on the haunting ballad “Try Again”, which features touching lyrics of love and longing, and has Chaplin’s best vocal performance to date. Occasionally the band get it wrong, with “The Iron Sea” a pointless instrumental, and the tedious “Hamburg Song” destined for the mellow first-song-of-the-encore slot. Overall though, “Under The Iron Sea” finds Keane in fine form, with enough to keep their fans happy while also experimenting to expand their sound. The changes might not be as extreme as the above quote suggests, but they’ve certainly become a more stimulating proposition.

Although it's been confirmed that the three remaining members of the Seattle grunge group Alice In Chains have reunited, drummer Sean Kinney insists that any new material written by the band would not be released under the Alice In Chains name, reports MonstersAndCritics.com. "If we found some other dude, to sing I'd love to move on," Kinney said in a recent interview. "Write some cool tunes and change the name and go on like that. I don't see continuing as Alice and replacing somebody. We're not trying to replace Layne. We want to play these songs one more time, and if it seems like the right thing to do, it'll happen. I don't know how long it will go or where it will take us. It's kind of a tribute to Layne and our fans, the people who love these songs. It's not some 'I'm broke and I need the money' situation. Skype Founders Sued for Racketeering

This isn’t exactly how is sounds. Essentially, the Skype guys created Kazaa back in the day and promised to sell it to Morpheus-maker, Streamcast. Instead, they sold the product to Sharman Networks. Now that Skype is popular and eBay owns, it, Streamcast wants their right of first refusal back and is trying to grab a little cash out of a deal gone sour. Streamcast is basically saying that the Skype boys fraudulently sold their software to Sharman in order to prevent P2P lawsuits from eating them alive, thereby breaking all previous deals. The charges probably won’t stick and the “file-sharing” industry is notoriously nasty and sketchy, so this was to be expected. Source

There is, still, no better looking phone than the Motorola RAZR. Admit it.This Motorola RAZR V3, was a phone with skin deep beauty and a kludge in every other way. Then came the much rumoured and much hyped Motorola iTunes ROKR. That was a phone that could play songs and synchronise with iTunes on your Mac or PC. Brilliant, except for the fact that for whatever reasons, it would store only 100 songs (artificially restricted by Apple and Motorola) and it looked like a brick - definitely circa 1990. And now we hear that the Motorola RAZR V3i is here. Or will be. Soon. What surprises are Motorola going to throw in our faces then? Let's see what news we have so far.For one, the RAZR V3i looks almost exactly the same as the RAZR V3. That is a good thing. About the only thing right about the RAZR are its looks, and better keep that if you don't want the media and the market laughing at you. Good job. Two, the RAZR V3i has iTunes. It's optional, though. We shal keep our discussion limited to the iTunes RAZR. That means that you can use your RAZR V3i the same way you use a normal iPod. Motorola RAZR has a pathetic .3 megapixels digital camera. The new RAZR V3i will have a less pathetic 1.3 megapixels camera. pathetic, because this is 2005-end, and one does not really want to see stuff which was available 2 years back in phones. Not when you have something as stylish as a RAZR. There will be 12 MB memory for the Motorola iTunes RAZR V3i. Not good either - last years Nokia 6600, which costs 60 % of the V3 costs, has 64 MB. So there. Expandable yes, but not good enough.

Radiohead Tunes in Tour

Radiohead is ready to take the show back on the road. The band has confirmed a series of small-scale concert dates beginning in May in Europe and the U.K., followed by tour dates in the U.S. and Canada in June, including a headlining appearance at the 2006 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The British alt-rockers are then slated to return to Europe to play several more shows, including Britain's V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire on Aug. 19-20. According to a statement from Radiohead, the upcoming tour will feature "new songs that are work in progress" in an effort to keep things "fun and spontaneous." "We're excited to be touring again, especially to play new songs to an audience," the band said. "For the first time, we have no contract or release deadline to fulfill--it's both liberating and terrifying." Tickets for the bulk of the concerts go on sale March 25. Radiohead has been working on a followup album to 2003's politically charged Hail to the Thief for months now, though no official timetable has been set for its release. However, the band said that it planned to release "music to download when we are excited about it, rather than wait 12 months for a full-blown album release." In a post on the band's official Website, frontman Thom Yorke elaborated further on what the band has in store for its fans. "By the way, listening back to things we are doing and looking through the lyrics today and stuff, it feels like we are finally getting somewhere," Yorke wrote. "There are lots of songs. Too many to get together straight away. So we will be furiously rehearsing and writing as we go." Yorke, who will appear with Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood at the Friends of the Earth's Big Ask Campaign benefit concert at London's Koko Club on May 1, also chastised those profiting off of tickets to the event by selling them on eBay at inflated prices. "Might i suggest that those selling their Koko tickets on eBay for stupid money gives a contribution, say 30 percent of their proceeds, back to Friends of the Earth, for whose benefit we are all doing this show," Yorke wrote. Speaking with Yahoo Games a Sony representative says the PS3 will ship with the 60GB HDD PS3 Games. According to a source speaking with Yahoo Games, the Sony PS3 will ship with the a 60BG HDD. Earleir this week at a PS3 conference in Toyko, Sony’s president of Computer Entertainment, Ken Kutaragi, announced that all PS3 games are being developed to take advantage of the hard drive. Another reason for Sony to include the hard drive as a standard is because it will be needed to utilize online services such as downloading in a similar way to Microsoft’s Xbox Live service. So now we know that the PS3 will launch in early November, and that the 60GB HDD will be included, the only big question left is how much will the console cost? Today, 17/3/06, me and my 3 friends went to Dolphin view cafe' to have a coffee... So It goes like this.. we went there around 4:15. As soon as we chose a table and sat, here comes the waiter to take our order. We ordered for 2 coffee's, 2 cokes and a packet of Marlboro Lights. So after taking the order he went. We were discussing various topics...... and time passed... its been almost 20 minutes. So we asked on of the waiters, "Can You Make It Quick...." cause we need leave the place at 5:00. Ok.. 30 mins, still no sign..... we were goign crazy, and for me this wasn't the first time this was happening. So i was kinda cool, i mean just trying to be patient. Ok! here comes the waiter. He kept the stuffs and one coffee was missing. So we asked why, He replied "We have a problem with the coffee machine"...... and we said ok, and told him to make it quick..... then i remebered about the Ciggarates. So i asked... and he said " Oh yes...you ordered for a packet of ciggarates...." and i was like WO!~!!.. Time was 4:45 and when we got the remaining cup of coffee and ciggarates..... and we had only 15 minutes left. So we told him to bring the bill... cause we didn't wanna stay there anymore...and we left the place...... . Let me tell you.... for me Dolphin view cafe' is a cool place... with the airport view and if you are lucky enough, you could spot dolphins.......... with the cool salty air .... its my kinda place BUT "YOUR SERVICE NEEDS IMPROVEMENT"... oK

This event was the best event up to date. We've had only two events so far this year. The other was Revival (Anti-Drug show). In my opinion the seats must have not been there. This type of concerts needs a crowd. For Example, Exposure and Rock fest Events

Gianscore need to change their songs. I mean some new songs. Their performance was okay.

Fasy and friends were awesome from the beginning. The opening song "Your Betrayal" and the rest of the songs were amazing. We really saw what Fasy is capable of....the guitars by fasy were astonishing, the drum solo by Ibbe, and tremendous bass by Fayid and Ayya and the awesome vocals by Justin.

Let’s not forget the young crowd who had enough guts to go in front of the stage and show their support to Fasy and friends. The last song "Trooper" was great. Thanks to Fasy and The rest of the organizers for hosting such an event. We, the youth need such events. We do not have much to do. And all the best to Fasy.

This surely was a HABEYS event.

More and more Apples.

GloBiz company inaugurated their show room named “WIRELESS SHOWROOM” for Apple products on the 13^th Feb. This is the second “Authorized Reseller” in Maldives. The other is Focus Computers.Compared to Focus Computers, GloBiz has a much bigger showroom. GloBiz has almost every product of Apple Computer, Inc. of U.S. have to offer. From MacMini to iPods I think the interior of the GloBiz showroom sucks big time. It would be better to have a very posh style. A lot of whites will do the job, and will give an Apple look to the place.In my experience products are much cheaper at GloBiz than Focus.And customer service needs improvement in both places. So lets see what happens.

Fasy live in Male'

Finally its happening nex thurday. Fasy will be performing live in his home... Male'. So presenting "FASY LIVE IN MALE' ". I've been waiting for 3 months for this to happen...... So everybody be there TICKETS : 20/- , 50/-, 75/- and 130/-.... this is gonna be great huh!! on thursday 16th february 2005 at Alimas Carnival And also the winners of the "medianet presents BATTLE OF THE BANDS" champion "Gianscore" Will also perform as opening act..

Damn..... Still have 8 pending assignments on the previous 2 modules that i studied. And again i finished another module, so time for another 4 assignments. Just wondering how i am i going to do all these stuff. Then somebody shouts "TIME MANAGEMENT" i didnt study that..... ha haaa. so..... 12 more assignments, a 35 page website and 2 more presentations.... all of them pending. WOW!!! HELLO!!! Everone... i'm really really really really busy these days. So dont call me....
